Microsoft Windows templates in VDC
Interoute makes available certain editions and versions of the Microsoft Windows Server operating system in the form of standard templates that can be deployed into a customer’s VDC. Windows virtual machines can also be deployed from the CloudStore website: see the CloudStore Apps Catalogue.
Microsoft Windows Server templates are licensed by Interoute on the customer's behalf and their use incurs a monthly charge, which is payable each month in arrears. For current license cost information, see VDC pricing. (Notes: 1. the whole charge is applied for any period of deployment during one month, it is not pro rata by hour; 2. charges are waived for customers taking the VDC Free Trial.)
For a list of the currently available Windows templates, see below.
To find out more about licensing of Microsoft software, see Microsoft Windows licensing for VDC.
All of the following templates can be deployed to virtual machines using the VDC Control Centre or the API.
The default template for each version, which is marked by '*', can be purchased and deployed from the CloudStore Apps Catalogue.
Templates containing 'M' in the name are intended for the deployment of VMs that will be isolated from the Internet, and will require MAK-type activation. Templates without the 'M' label are intended for the deployment of VMs with Internet connection, and these will require KMS-type activation. For more information, see Microsoft Windows activation.
For some Windows versions, there is a choice of root disk size (60 GB or 100 GB) for deployment. Note: Root disks of deployed virtual machines can be resized at any time.
