Can I use my own Red Hat licenses in VDC?

Interoute Virtual Data Centre is certified for the Red Hat® Cloud Access programme. You can migrate your unused Red Hat license subscriptions to VDC and get Red Hat support for your virtual machines in the VDC cloud. More information.

Who should I talk to about licensing for my OS software?

Please contact the VDC LiveChat team, or contact the licensing team at licensing@interoute.com.

How do I activate Windows?

Windows can be activated using the KMS procedure (for a VM connected to the internet) or the MAK procedure (for a VM without internet connection). More information.

How does licensing of Windows OS work?

Licenses for Windows OS are rented for you by Interoute and charged on a monthly basis. Licenses for Windows applications also must be rented, although under some conditions you may be able to use your own volume licensing. More information.

What operating systems does the VDC service support?

The VDC service supports most x86-based operating systems. Windows Server versions 2008, 2012, 2012R2 and 2016 are provided as standard in template form for deployment of new VMs. Windows desktop OS (such as Windows 10) are not available due to license restrictions. A range of operating systems can be obtained as virtual machine templates from the Interoute CloudStore, and you may upload your own OS templates.
